Frequently Asked Questions

What vaccinations does my pet need for pet grooming?

Your pet must have an up-to-date Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccine. We also strongly recommend having Distemper, Influenza, and Rabies vaccines for added protection.

What are the drop-off times for pet grooming?

– Weekdays: 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM
– Saturday: 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Can I drop-off my pet after 11:00 AM?

Yes, we offer a late check-in window from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM. However, please note there’s an additional $15 late fee per pet.

Why no check-ins after 11:15 AM?

Due to our high-volume operations, we need to synchronize pet grooming schedules across facilities to provide optimal service. Any check-in after 11:00 AM disrupts this workflow. Therefore, to ensure all pets are ready for pickup by closing time, we strongly recommend adhering to our 11:00 AM cut-off.

Can I provide vaccination records at check-in?

Yes, but please make sure the Bordetella vaccine is current. For a smoother check-in, we suggest emailing your pet’s vaccination records in advance.

Can I self-administer vaccines and bring the vial as proof?

Unfortunately, we can only accept vaccinations verified by a licensed or registered third party.

Is a rush fee available?

Yes, for an extra $15 per pet, you can move your pet to the front of the pet grooming queue.

Does the rush fee guarantee completion within an hour?

No, the rush fee prioritizes your pet. Pet Grooming duration varies based on breed, weight, coat length, and pet cooperation. We’ll provide an estimated pick-up time at check-in.

How long does the pet grooming process take?

Pet Grooming times vary depending on multiple factors like breed, coat length, and type of grooming service. Critical factors like drying can take from 15 minutes up to 2-3 hours. We’ll call you once your pet is ready; don’t arrive unannounced.

How much will my pet’s grooming cost at The Dog House Pet Salon?

The cost of pet grooming is tailored to your pet’s unique needs, factoring in breed, weight, coat length, and specific grooming services. Our master groomers can provide a ballpark figure over the phone or an exact quote upon an in-person evaluation. Rest assured, our priority is to offer you excellent value without compromising on your pet’s comfort and appearance.

Why opt for pet nail filing over clipping?

Nail filing isn’t just an aesthetic choice; it’s a wellness decision for your dog. Unlike traditional clipping, filing offers a higher level of precision, minimizing the risk of injuring the quick—the sensitive part of the nail. Not only is this procedure more comfortable for your pet, but it also results in smoother, rounded nails, reducing the chances of scratches on both you and your furry friend.

Why is dental care essential for my dog?

Think of it as more than just a brushing routine—it’s preventive healthcare. Regular dental care prevents periodontal disease caused by plaque and tartar accumulation. Left unchecked, this can result in inflamed gums and even tooth loss. So, a quick brush not only keeps your dog’s smile gleaming but also contributes to their overall well-being.

Can I check-in for pet boarding and pet grooming after 11:15 AM?

– If pet grooming is on a different day: Yes, you can check-in after 11:15 AM.
– If pet grooming is on the check-in day: No, you’ll need to arrive before 11:15 AM to ensure same-day pet grooming.

Note: A $15 late fee per pet applies for check-ins after 11:00 AM.

Can I combine doggie daycare with pet grooming services?

Yes, you can! For daycare, the required vaccinations are Bordetella (Kennel Cough), Distemper, and Rabies. We also recommend the Influenza vaccine. Please specify your preferred pickup time at check-in to maximize playtime before and/or after dog grooming.

Is a potty break possible during a groom-only service?

Certainly, we offer potty breaks for an additional $5. However, please note that this service is not available at our Pearland location.

What Vaccines Do My Pets Need for Pet Boarding and Doggie Daycare?

For both pet boarding and dog daycare, pets must have current Bordetella (Kennel Cough), Distemper, and Rabies vaccinations. Influenza vaccination is also highly recommended for added protection.

When Can I Drop Off for Pet Boarding?

– Weekdays: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
– Saturday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
– Sunday: 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM or 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Is Doggie Daycare Included in the Pet Boarding Fee?

Absolutely, daycare is complimentary with your pet’s boarding stay.

How Often Do Dogs Play Outside?

Your dog will enjoy four outdoor play sessions daily—two in the morning and two in the afternoon. Naptime is from 12 PM to 2 PM to keep them refreshed.

What’s the Duration of Each Outdoor Session?

Each session ranges from 45 minutes to 1 hour, weather and breed permitting.

Are Play Areas Segregated by Size and Temperament?

Yes, we offer separate, secure, and covered play yards, tailored to accommodate dogs of varying sizes and temperaments.

Do You Offer Separate Daycare Rooms?

Absolutely! Our daycare rooms are designed to cater to dogs of different sizes and temperaments for a safer play experience.

Can You Cater to Special Needs Pets?

Yes, we’re equipped to accommodate pets with special needs to ensure they’re comfortable and well-cared for.

Love this place. You walk in and it feels like a big dog house. Staff is super nice. I board my dogs here when I’m out of town. I have not had any issues. Prices are ok, not too cheap but it’s reasonable. I feel like I leave my babies in good care.

If I could give zero stars I would. I’ve been taking my dogs to Dog House Pet Salon for years. I’ve always used Donna and I have it in my pets profile Donna only. I was told Donna works at the Richmond Ave location on Tuesday, so I changed the day to bring my dog for grooming. I drive 45 mins and I have no problem with that. But I do have a problem with arriving to my appt that was made 2 weeks in advance to be told that Donna’s working at the Washington location today. This is the second time this has happened. I was offered to drive to the Washington location in rush hour traffic, as If my time isn’t valuable. Very poor customer service to say the least.

Amazing experience for my dog’s groom! This was our first time trying a new groomer since moving and they did not disappoint. The whole staff is friendly and thoughtful and most importantly my goldendoodle’s haircut is perfect! Highly recommend and very fair pricing

After 10 years coming to this place for boarding, daycare, grooming and trainingI am so disappointed and sad, see how prices and charges are growing outrageous.Today I was charge a day care for one hour after the cut, thing 10 years later I learned existed.. never explained before. Or the day that I called and asked for the total for the staying.Same with the bath, never asked if I wanted its nail filed or cut. Charged 10 us extra. And a couple of new front desk ladies should take some customer service training.have a Beagle that is placed with big dogs.Never coming back.Probably this happens when business grows and care less about people and more about money.

I had been taking my dog here for the past two years and they were doing fine until the last few visits. Not sure if they got new groomers. Firstly prices would vary each time but the last visit they tried to charge me a de matting fee but I refused since they didn't inform me of the charge before hand. Thankfully I did not pay because my dogs tail was very matted. And it appears they cut him with the shears that he later developed an infection and I had to take him to the vet. They also nicked him by the eye but no one informed me of that either when I picked him up. Will not be returning.

The staff are super nice and helpful! It was my first time with any professional groomers so I was so nervous about it, but they were kind. Dixon's haircut was so adorable I could not believe it! Loved it, will come again!

If I could give a zero stars I would. I boarded my baby here for almost 2 weeks and I picked him up in worse condition. When I picked him up he was disgusting, skinny, and not himself. Later I saw LESIONS on my poor baby and they have done nothing about it. Never take your babies here. I have tried to contact them about it and it’s now been four weeks and they have done nothing. The owner doesn’t care, and has not responded and is ducking. Will be looking to take legal actions!
